Depending on your use case you may find it helpful to apply certain coloring information to your trusses. The Color By
feature is designed to give you flexibility in this area. The default setting is to color the truss by Lumber Properties. This setting takes into account the properties of the lumber such as the species and grade.
This feature makes it easier to tell if members are using different grades and species of lumber. As you can see below there are 3 different grades of lumber being used on this truss.
This feature is designed to show a helpful heatmap like representation of the impact that load cases have on this truss. We take the worst capacity across all load cases and color the truss accordingly.
Note
This setting is automatically updated after analyzing a truss. If any checks are over capacity, the truss will be colored by Worst Capacity (All Load Cases) so you can see what parts of the truss are affected. If the truss passes all checks, it will revert to Color By Lumber Properties.
Tip
You can see more detailed information about checks that are over capacity by opening the Analysis and History subpanel.
When this feature is on, we will color the component's members based on their sizes and cuts.
When this feature is on we display the truss with no special color information. All members will be colored the same.
