Create Bearings by Tracing a PDF

In this example, we'll bring in a PDF and use it to trace bearings.

Select the pdf that you'd like to use as an underlay.

For multi-page PDFs, you can choose the specific page to upload.

We'll select page 3 for this example.

 You can upload a PDF anytime throughout the project enabling you to easily view the locations of MEP accessories such as plumbing fixtures and HVAC ductwork.

 Click upload.

Once the PDF is uploaded. You can define the scale. For this example, we're going to pick our scale.

We're going to zoom in to the dimension line, being very careful to select the correct point.

Click to pick Point A.

Pan over to select the second point, and again zoom in to make sure we select the correct snap point.

Next, we'll define the distance between points. Referencing the actual PDF file, the dimension is 62 feet.

Apply the scale.

Next, pick our origin which is the point on the pdf to use as the origin for initial bearing input.

Now, we are able to input bearings.

Notice the bearing start point is anchored to the origin.

Zoom and pan as-needed and click the endpoint to place the wall.

Continue with the next wall.

With the start point already selected, change wall thickness to 5 and a half inches.

Click to place the wall.

Launch into 3D to view the walls.

Finally, let's remove the underlay.
