Welcome! In this video we are going to change and apply project settings to one or more existing components from Layout.

First, you'll need to make sure all of your truss envelopes are designed and analyzed. With this project we can look at the left side bar and see our components. Here you see each design, the analysis status for each showing Checks Pass, and each component shows they are Linked.

Next, you'll need to verify a few settings by selecting a component from the left side bar, and then explore its settings. By clicking on the menu for the Load cases you can select Load Settings. Here you are able to verify the current Load - Roof Live + Dead. For this example we will be changing the Roof Top Chord Live Load from 20 to 25, to account for a change to project requirements due to increased construction loads.

Let’s return back to layout. Here you will control select all components. This way you are able to make changes for the Roof Top Chord Live load. Once all are selected you can select Project Settings, and then Load Settings. Notice here in the Load Settings you can see all of the selected components are checked. If changes are only needed for specific components, you can check or uncheck the box from the list. You can also select the defaults box, which ensures the default loading for this project will include the change, in case we need to come back later and make changes to the project by adding any new components. Continue by Changing the Top Chord Live Load from 20 to 25 psf to account for the increased construction load. Then you will Click Save to apply these settings.

From the left sidebar, notice all components labels are blue, indicating an unanalyzed status. You'll need to reanalyze the changes made for the load settings. From the Project Menu, select Analyze all changed components. Now you'll need to verify the settings modified by selecting a component, and validating the Load - Roof Live & Dead changes were made. You can see the Top Chord Dead load is now set to 25 psf. This looks great.

In this example you applied a simple loading change to all linked components from within a Layout. This feature is very powerful, allowing you to define and apply changes to any number of settings for any of the components within the project all at once.

Thanks for watching!
