# Create and Delete Scab/Braces

## Creating a New Scab/Brace

### Step 1 - Start Brace Insertion

Begin insertion by clicking the `+ Create` button, right-clicking in empty space, or using the `Ctrl + Q`keyboard shortcut and selecting `Scab/Brace.`

**Tip**

You can use the keyboard shortcut `Ctrl + Q + A` to begin inserting a scab/brace.

### Step 2 - Place the Brace

Place the brace by hovering over the desired location of a member you would like to brace. Once you have placed the brace you can modify the length using the in scene editing.

**Note**

You are not able to edit any of the properties of the brace other than the length, however we will automatically match the lumber type/properties of the brace with the member(s) it is being inserted on.

**Note**

You are not able to move a brace once it has been placed. You can adjust the length as needed or delete it and create another one.

## Deleting a Brace

### Step 1 - Select the Brace

Select the brace by clicking on it in the scene. Alternatively, you can use the `Right Sidebar` to select a brace.

### Step 2 - Delete the Brace

Once selected, you can simply hit the `Delete` key.
